Research

Research activities include clinical, translational and basic science research. Dr. Parviz Minoo is the Director of Molecular Biology Laboratory at Los Angeles General Medical Center and the Director of the Basic Science Research Program in the Division of Neonatal Medicine. Neonatal fellows and post-doctoral trainees conduct basic and translational research under the direction of Dr. Minoo. Basic and translational research activities include studying the role of cytokines in lung injury and lung development, while clinical research activities are focused on development of novel respiratory care devices and modes of non-invasive ventilation as well as studies on neonatal hemodynamics, regional organ blood flow and cerebral oxygen delivery using state-of-the art comprehensive hemodynamic monitoring and data acquisition systems in collaboration with the Division’s PhD Training Program in Bioengineering. In addition the NICU faculty neonatologists conduct and participate in various multi-center clinical trials on regular basis.
