New Oncology Services in Arcadia

Henry Wang, MD, medical director of Keck Medicine of USC at Arcadia

Since December 2018, Henry Wang, MD, has served as the medical director of the newly created Keck Medicine of USC at Arcadia office. Dr. Wang is a general oncologist who specializes in all malignancies, specifically lung, breast, colon, and prostate cancer. He has noble goals for treating cancer: to turn an incurable illness into a chronic disease and maximize the chance for cure.

“With many new treatments like molecular targeting therapy and immunotherapy coming out every year, we are curing more and more cancer patients,” Dr. Wang said. “For patients whose cancer cannot be cured at this time, their neoplasm may be managed like a chronic disease. We are probably witnessing the most exciting time in oncology history.”

Dr. Wang completed his residency at the University of California, San Francisco in Fresno. As a research fellow and resident, he became intrigued by the rapid development of new treatments occurring in cancer research. He chose to pursue a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of California, Davis. For the past fifteen years, Dr. Wang has built a very successful private practice in Arcadia.

“I strive for the best balance between truthful and hopeful,” Dr. Wang said. “Even for patients with advanced disease, I say, ‘We will work together to not only let you live as long as possible but to also preserve your quality of life as much as we can.’”

When Keck Medicine of USC planned to create an ambulatory clinic in Dr. Wang’s community, Shawn Sheffield, Chief Strategy Officer, approached him to serve as medical director.

Dr. Wang saw a strong need for oncology services in his community and knew that USC would provide new resources. “I am excited to be part of a larger organization to provide even better care for my patients.”

The Arcadia office is located at 125 W. Huntington Drive, Building A and B, Arcadia, CA 91007. Building A currently houses a state-of-the-art infusion center and multispecialty clinic including urology, dermatology, hepatobiliary surgery, colorectal surgery, breast surgery, sarcoma surgery, melanoma surgery, ENT, rheumatology and pain management. When building B opens in the near future, more specialties will be added like radiation oncology and primary care. Among other plans, Dr. Wang hopes to help add a thoracic oncology service to the practice and offer clinical trials to his patients.
