Department of Medical Education adds Diller, Price-Johnson to leadership team

The Department of Medical Education announced the appointment of David Diller, MD, MHPE, as assistant dean for clinical curriculum, effective July 1, 2021, and Tanisha Price-Johnson, PhD, as associate dean for student affairs, effective Aug. 1, 2021.

David Diller

Diller received his medical degree in 2011 from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed his residency in emergency medicine at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine-St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center. He went on to complete a fellowship in medical education at Oregon Health & Science University. In 2016 Diller joined the faculty at the Keck School of Medicine as an assistant professor of clinical emergency medicine. During his tenure at Keck, Diller has served as the associate program director for the LAC+USC Emergency Medicine Residency Program, as well as the fellowship director for the LAC+USC Medical Education Fellowship. Most recently, in 2021, Diller completed his Master of Health Professions Education at the University of Illinois-Chicago and was the recipient of the LAC+USC Department of Emergency Medicine’s “Educator of the Year” award.

As the assistant dean for clinical curriculum, Diller will have administrative oversight of the core clinical clerkships, selective/elective clerkships, and courses in the post-core clerkship phase of the curriculum. With the MD program’s implementation of renewed curriculum for the 2021-22 academic year, Diller will oversee the day-to-day operations of clinical courses and clerkships, ensuring that all curricular activities at all sites are aligned with Keck policies and procedures and in compliance with LCME accreditation requirements.

Tanisha Price-Johnson

Price-Johnson brings over 29 years of experience in higher education administration to her role as the associate dean for student affairs at the Keck School. In 2013, Price-Johnson received her PhD in higher education from the University of Arizona. From 2006-2020 she served as the executive director of admissions and financial aid for the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and in 2020 she was named associate dean for student affairs and admissions at the University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine. Price-Johnson has also served in key national leadership roles with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and with the Western Group on Student Affairs (WGSA). She joins the Keck School faculty a clinical associate professor of medical education (clinician educator.)

As the associate dean for student affairs, Price-Johnson will provide overall leadership, vision, strategy and oversight of the Office of Student Affairs. Price-Johnson will be responsible for the organization and oversight of a comprehensive student affairs program for the medical students at KSOM, and she will be a primary student advocate in responding directly to the student needs in providing resources to assist them during the course of their education.
